Darlene J. Bigler has served as chief executive officer of Community Action Southwest for the past 20 years, a non-profit human service agency serving Washington and Greene counties in Pennsylvania. CAS employs 200 and administers more than $15 million in government grants and private contracts each year, to serve 18,000 people.
Darlene has founded and operates several corporations affiliated with Community Action Southwest including Action Resources, Inc., a non-profit property holding company, Plaza Building Associates, LLC., which owns and operates a 40,000 square foot commercial office building, and DocSolutions, a for profit corporation wholly owned by Community Action Southwest providing electronic records management, document destruction and materials recycling services. Community Action Southwest recently acquired the nonprofit corporation, Try Again Homes, which provides foster care and support services in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Darlene is President of Threshold Housing, a housing development corporation which develops affordable home ownership opportunities in Washington, Greene and Fayette counties.
A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she is past President and a current board member of the Community Action Association of Pennsylvania (CAAP).
Darlene was honored with the 2008 Athena Award and the 2002 Outstanding Woman in Business award by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. She serves as a trustee of the Washington Health System, and a board member of the Southwest Corner Workforce Investment Board and the Washington Area Federal Credit Union.
